There is no glory or points of pride in winning 10 - 0 week in week out. You should be wanting to have a decent game every Sunday especially if it is your only game of the week. That is, if you are a true footballer and not someone/team that just goes in for the love of demoralizing teams every week.

Just for $hits and giggles, I'm gonna start posting some of the emails I get every season (INDOOR and OUTDOOR) quoting the "pleadings" from the teams who don't want to move, or want to move down and division (names withheld, of course).

Just to keep me honest, all you teams who asked "numerous" times to be bumped up "divisionssssss" can post those pleadings on here as well. For those contemplating "calling my bluff", remember that divisional re-alignment is done at the mid-point. FC UK may very well have asked to be moved up after their 1st match. The request would have been denied because it's imprudent to do the "tinkering" that early in the season.

Your are completely right, "tinkering that early in the season" does not make sense. What also doesn't make sense is leaving a team in the same division after the re-alignment when they asked to be moved up and they are in third place with 1 loss(and when you are apparently in agreement that they shouldn't have been in a lower division to start with). as the admin of this leauge how can you come on here and comment on teams like this. You hold a position of authority and with such should not make comments about teams having "a couple pylons" or defending your actions by saying teams should come on here and post their emails to "keep you honest". Obviously you find yourself with something to defend for you to post in this manner. Now we should not be blamed for winnig the division, just because we were left in 2c does that mean we should stop playing? And again, to reiterate, we won the div. by 2 points, and the playoffs by a 1-0 score, now if this is your conception of blowing teams away i think you have to stop watching soccer.

as if ordained by some greater power INTER v FCUK is a quarter final match up.

Two unstoppable objects and yet the cruel math say only one can pass.

Will FC UK shove a sock in the mouth of Stewie and his beloved INTER SIDE - exacting full retribution for this very thread?

OR

Will INTER be the instrument if punishment to send the talent laden FC UK home?

Looks like it is put up or shut up time. Good luck to you webguru, and see you on the field. Also, i have had the opportunity to speak with admin in person and had a chance to clear up what has been said, which i greatly appreciate.

AS PROMISED...

1) "Also, not sure how many divisions you are planning on doing for 9 aside, but your original email you said for Sunday you would have 3 divisions. I am requesting to be placed in 3 if possible. As you know, most of our young guys go away during the school year so we are a much different team, as our past records have indicated."

2) "We will not have are original ABC team for the indoor sesion. We have already paid the deposit. Please change our name from ABC to XYZ FC and drop us to division C as we just have some friends that wanna kick the ball around."

3) "We are interested in returning for Fall, but we lost our keeper and a few players. Just move us down to C or D if there is one"

So how does one determine if its a legitamte request or not? I mean what if SPURS lost 50% of there players and just replaced them with random guys he met at the Pub after one of his drunken nights....would you still place him where you feel best and have him lose his first 6 or 7 games like 5-0? Sorry COOPS, just using you as an example.

That's the million $$$ question, isn't it??? I mean mb7 has asked a very legitimate question of me: "Why are some of these great teams in the lower divisions"? Well, now you see a small, small smattering of what's before me every session. Requests to stay put, drop down divisionsssss backed up by emails that I have no way of verifying until AFTER the season starts. A prominent poster on here once told me that when I get these requests, the response s/b, "Not my problem". In other words if you win your division and are slated to move up and come back with, "We can't move up because my mom and grandma are now on the team", the response should be, "Deal with it". Not pretending to have the answers, just sharing.

I think that question is harder for Admin when a newer team comes into the league. Not sure if they are properly placed. Case in point, this 1st secession, Spurs are playing 6 on 6, D1 at Hershey (its a long story). Although the SPURS team is quite good, I'm sure I'm going to lose more than I'm going to win. When I booked, I was asked... "Are you guys good??? Like really, are you guys good??" I said "Yes!" full well knowing I'm going to get my head served on a plate.

If I did lose half my guys, I'm sure Admin would understand, and put me down (if there is room). If I wanted to go down and kick the snott outta everyone... I'm sure I could do that as well... but what fun is that???

Now with the topic, as I said before, I think the two teams in question had very good reasons to be placed where they are... and I don't think it was solely by their own design. I look at it this way. I remember last year we played D1 and got killed, I said to the guys - maybe we can learn something out of this - maybe we can become a better team by watching 1st hand how another team moves the ball for its players.

Sure you may not win your division, but really what does it matter??? Why do you have to win??? Enjoy it for what it is... You get out for a couple hours, get a good run in, and share a couple laughs with the boys. You don't get paid, and your not doing commercials for coke...

Move on people...

How about if Captains send a report to the league after 2-3 games to the league admin. This report could include which teams belong in what division. This report could “assist” league admin’s final decision.

Not a bad idea, but I can't imagine there being anything close to a consensus.

Come on guys!

Look at it from the other side before you raise stink. Being in Division 2 for some time I have seen this part of the league get better and better each and every year. My winter 2007 team (I believe that was the year we won it) is by far a weaker team than the one I'm constructing this year. Will I win the division??? I'll say no.
You can only guess what everyone else is doing - chances are, with each passing season your competition is bulking up just as much, maybe even more than you.
There is also something to be said about kicking the living snot out of the teams in your division before you move up. That way you ensure success in the next division. Last season, SPURS decided to make the jump from D2A indoor going to D1 indoor. We got killed - which was not fun, and I lost a couple of guys because of that - Lesson learned.

I can go on and on about this topic - things like team dynamics / player characteristics etc, etc... but don't want to type any more...

Your Winter 2007 team had me on it Wink enough said!!!

how about automatic Promotion and relegation (at season mid point) for the first and last place teams respectively in every division?

Is that now how it is now? If not for Indoor, then yeah, I like that idea.
