So who is joining this tournament? I would guess it brings out some really good teams. I am thinking about entering Renegades to provide some cannon fodder... we just want to get in some more games.

Simms, go for it man! If you pay, you play! The tourney does bring out quality and yeah so what you [/i]may get pumped! But who cares! Like you said, more games, good day of soccer for the playing and viewing pleasure, and keeps your wallets out of the stores with the significant other! Laughing

Simmsj, your team may not touch the ball for the 25 min for all 3 game. i enter it once with guys i picked up from other team...quality players and we got smoked.
if you do enter tournament, just have fun with it.

We thought we had an all star team...not so much...HAHAHA good timez.

I played simms team b4, and it could be a fun experience, but if you're using the majority of your current squad you will get smoked.

Entering THINKING you're gonna win money is probably not wise. Entering HOPING you're gonna win money might be a better approach. Like the lottery...if you're thinking you're gonna win, you're in for years of disappointment. If you're hoping you're gonna win, then you might consider the entire process "entertainment" for $5/week. We've have some teams over the years who entered knowing they had zero chance of winning, but still had a blast. Then there are the teams who were stacked (on paper) and never made it out of the first round. They were back in the FutureShop line-up by 2pm. Shocked , probably disappointed.

I dont mind getting "smoked".... epically given that there is usually (admin you can confirm) 2 weeks with no soccer over the x-mas break this is the only chance to play. We are certainly not going in expecting to win anything (since our team has been around for only 1 year and we have never won anything). Just wanna play.... I am surprised more BAS teams dont enter this tournament. I understand that there is some of the best competition around the GTA for these games but if 10-15 BAS teams entered then each team would run in to each other also if that many BAS sides entered there would not be much space for outside teams.

Also for those in the know, what is the exact format? I am guessing since they are looking for 16 teams that it would be groups of 4 with top 2 advancing to elimination.... are the games regular length or shorter to fit them all in....

20 minute matches, so if you notch one early, HEY who knows, right?

Just enjoy yourself and enjoy watching the other teams play also, it is a fun day at the Soccer Centre. Hopefully the referees will be assigned accordingly. Last money tournament our competitive team was knocked out to a sever conflict of interest call, or a seriously lack of ability to ref the game from what is supposed to be the province's #1.

No bitterness here, just bringing up the ref gig again! Razz

If we reach the 16 teams that is correct 4 groups top 2 advance, games are 20 mins in round robin and quaters, then move to 25 for semis, and 30 for finals
