4REST, we all know that a referee won't start the match until the gamesheet is produced. We also know that no player may play until he/she signs the gamesheet. Is it then safe to assume that if a player arrives late, they will have to wait until halftime to sign the gamesheet and could therefore only be eligible to play at the start of the 2nd half?

It all depends on the type of gamesheet you have...

some leagues don't require players to sign the team sheet, therefore a player can be named but not be present at the start of the game.

technically speaking, in leagues that require players to sign the teamsheet, the teamsheet should be signed before it is handed to the ref and no changes made once the game starts

having said that, BAS is a recreational league, therefore common sense should prevail, and most refs (like me and superstar Admin who I understand reffed the "friendly" at Norton Park when a ref didn't show for a Fireball game) would and should allow late arrivals to be put on the game sheet at halftime, ensuring that the other team are aware of the change so as to avoid any accusations of tampering.

I'd suggest you put something into your constitution that takes care of this "problem".

I have had many refs just ask for the gamesheet at half time...to me it all depends on who the ref is....some want it right away some dont care

Well, I know there is an unwritten Law of the Game called "Commonsense" (Law 15???? dunno). If I were reffing, I would want ALL players on the gamesheet before they played just in case I got slugged or violence erupted. Having said that, the chances of a ref getting slugged or violence erupting in a match between two of our women's teams is (thankfully) very remote. Hence, "Commonsense".

I don't know the ref, he must be out of district as I don't see him listed in the PHSA directory..

If Admin cares to send me his details, I'll be happy to look further...

Commonsense is otherwise known as law 18

There is a loop-hole to every problem in the world. Think about what solution would eliminate this problem and use it. Wink
