Now that nearly every team has played, let's hear the input.

7 is waaaay too crowded...the field is a bit longer than ken giles...but it still doesn't seem to provide enough room for 7 a side...play seemed rather sloppy and crowded

I think alot depends on what you are used to. 10 years ago, we played at the Terry Miller gymnasium. 5 a-side (4 + keeper). The gym is about half the size of Ken Giles. It never seemed crowded probably because we got used to it. When we moved to Giles, we added a body, but it still seemed like there was too much "dead" space on the field. Of course, we got used to it and now adding a body at the New Soccer Centre does seem cramped. I'm not saying stick with the 7 a-side and you'll get used to it because to me 6 is the best format, but it's just food-for-thought.

The plan is to make the vote "official" after everyone has played a few matches.

I first voted change how the format currently is, to 5 a side plus a goalie.

I TAKE IT BACK. I vote to keep it the way it is.

Thanks Smile

Interesting because 1 or 2 others have expressed the same change-of-heart. I think the biggest problem with changing the format to 6 a-side, is that it's very difficult to create equality among the genders. I'm fairly certain those who want 6 a-side would play with 2 females out, 3 males out, and a male as keeper. So, if you're a female and have paid the same $$$, you will end up playing 20 - 33% less than your male teammates.

That's the main reason I want it to remain the same. I put this team together based on 3 girls on the field at all times, and my players are very committed so we almost always have out full team out. If the format changes that means our girls get less playing time which does not benefit us at all.

I think if a team can play positions properly than 7 a side shouldnt be a problem. It's a matter of spreading out and playing positions accordingly.

Playing a 2-2-2 formation works well for 7 a-side. 3 across is not feasible.
